BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (June 3, 2012) -- Patrick
Christovich, New Orleans, LA, opened the
Birmingham National Invitational with a 65
and
continued to lead until the last putt
dropped,
taking the title by six shots with a three
day
total of 12-under-par, 65-70-69--204.
"The
65 was a great way to start the event, even
with a double bogey on the 16th hole," said
Christovich after the round. "It is the second
time I have shot 6-under to start an event,
the other was at the Louisiana Mid-Amateur 2
years ago."
Brett Boner, Charlotte, N.C. finished alone
in
second place, posting rounds of 73-68-69-
-210
and Tim Jackson, Germantown, TN was
solo third
with rounds of 71-72-69--212.
"The
National
Invitational Tournament at Birmingham is an
event that I have been looking forward to
playing in for years," added Christovich. "I am
honored to have my name listed on that trophy
along side of some fantastic past Amateur
champions."
