Ariya Jutanugarn the low amateur at Kraft
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (April 1, 2012) -- The story of the 2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship will long include the one-hole playoff won by Sun Young Yoo, but the subtext should undoubtedly mention the solid showing of a handful of up-and-coming amateur players.
Ariya Jutanugarn finished tied for 22nd with a four-day total of 286, just seven shots behind the winner. Jutanugarn went 71-73-71-71, finishing 2-under for the week.
In a tie for 38th was the UK's Charley Hull, who made waves for originally opting to play in this event over a Great Britain & Ireland Curtis Cup team match, which --- at the time --- meant she was no longer allowed to play. She has since been added to the roster and showed just how valuable she can be to the team with a four-day 71-77-68-73--289, good enough for 1-over.
Austin Ernst, the NCAA champion, finished 4-over while Jaye Marie-Green closed at 5-over.
Moriya Jutanugarn and Alison lee also played in the event but weren't able to make the cut.
