Duty takes medalist honors at WVGA Senior Amateur
CHARLES TOWN, WV (Sept 15, 2011) -- Hurricane’s John Duty, Sr. wins his first Stroke Play portion of the WV Senior Amateur at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club. The 2-time overall Champion defeated 2010 Stroke Play Champion, Huntington’s Steve Fox, in a sudden-death playoff to win the title.
Duty will now be the number one seed going into the Round of 32 Match Play competition.
Morgantown’s Dick Bolen defeated Hurricane’s Tommy Holland to win the Silver Division, while Huntington’s Charlie Stone is the leader of the pack in the Gold Division, knocking off Round 1 low round of the day, Bob White (who shot 1-under-par, 71).

Entries are open to male amateur golfers with an
active GHIN Handicap index through a WVGA
Member
Club, and who are 50 years of age or older by the
first
round of Championship. The tournament will be 36
holes of stroke play qualifying followed by match
play.
Thirty-two players will advance in the Senior
Division,
16 players will advance in the Silver Division, and 8
players will advance in the Gold Division.
