Texas North Amateur: Hickman leads by two
PLANO, Texas (Aug. 6, 2011) -- Plano, TX – Another day of great scoring conditions greeted the players for the second round of the North Amateur Championship. The Queen’s Course at Gleneagles Country Club challenged much of the field on day two. Aaron Hickman was able to battle through the hot and calm conditions to separate himself from the field by two shots heading into the final round.
Aaron Hickman is the only player in the field to post two rounds under par. Hickman of Dallas made birdie on three of the par fives at Gleneagles and added another birdie and two bogeys in his second round of two-under-par 69. Aaron Hickman will try to continue his great year on Sunday, having already won the State Four Ball and North Mid-Amateur titles.
Luke Kwon had an exciting second round with two eagles, four birdies, and four bogeys for a total of four under par 67. Kwon of Carrolton shot up the leader board with the best round of the day and sits alone in second place at four under par for the tournament. Drew Evans also had an up and down day. Evans made one eagle, three birdies, three bogeys, and one double bogey in his round of even par 71. Evans finds himself in third place at two under par overall. First round co-leader John Antle is tied for fourth place with Jay Csipkes, Rob Couture, and Stuart Smallwood at one under par.
