Marin County Am: Booth, Ledzinski lead after round 1
SAN GERONIMO, Calif. (July 23, 2011) -- The out-of-towner's stole the show! Three young men who never played San Geronimo before today were the only competitors under par on the windy Saturday round. Brent Booth from the South-bay fired a mid-morning 68, which was backed later in the day by Jerry Ledzinski from Carmel. Ledzinski manage to work his way back from an opening nine 37 to shoot a bogey free 31 on the back nine.
Grant Rappleye from Elk Grove fired a strong 69 which puts him in the final group one shot back. Two-time defending Champion Kaz Hoffman lurks with 5 other competitors at one-over 73 as well as San Geronimo's current Club Champion Anthony Vaccaro.
In the Senior Flight the competition is close with 3 men also within a few shots of each other. Ray Kong from San Jose shot a one over 73 and holds the lead by one over Jay Guerin from Fremont who shot 74. Tony Wilmer from San Mateo is close behind at 76... The defending champion, Mark Miller, will make a push tomorrow along with 5 others tied at 78.
