Keperra Bowl: Higginbottom leads after day 2
BRISBANE, Australia (May 11, 2011) --Jake Higginbottom (The Australian) holds a single-shot lead after day two of the Keperra Bowl at the Keperra Country Golf Club in Brisbane.
Higginbottom carded a second round five-under par 67 to sit at -10 at the half way stage of the tournament. He leads Daniel McGraw (-9) by a single shot, the 2011 Queensland Stroke Play Champion fired an impressive second round 67 (-5) to follow yesterday's 68 (-4).
The first round leader Steven Slappendel slipped back to a tie for 15th place after a disappointing six over par 78.
Corey Crawford (St Helens) is three strokes back from Higginbottom in outright third after he managed a four under par 68 to be seven under after 36 holes.
A cluster of players sit four shots back in a tie for fourth position at 6-under par (138).
Keperra's fast greens proved to be the main obstacle for many players on day two, with many of the players recording a three and four putt's during their round.
The 36-hole cut was made at 5-over par with 72 players progressing through to the third round.
