Porteous dominates in South Africa

KLEINMOND, South Africa (May 4, 2011) --After opening with a best of the day 68 on day one, Haydn Porteous (CGGU) closed out the Boland Championship with another 68 (-4) in trying conditions to take the 2011 Championship title on a fantastic score of 207 (-9). Haydn's two 68's were the best rounds of the tournament and just underline his superiority during the week.
South Africa's number one Amateur and defending Champion Brandon Stone (GNGU) fought to the end finaling finishing the Championship on 214 (-2) for a share of 3rd place with MG Keyser of the Western Province.
Boland's number one player, Francois Haughton again re-confirmed his position in the host Union by ending as the leading Boland player in a tie for 5th place on level par, 216.
With blustery conditions and a tougher course set up, only 6 players managed to return sub par rounds on the final day.
