Coleman Invitational: McCoy, Lutz claim titles
JUNO BEACH, Fla. (April 30, 2011) -- Seminole Golf Club member Mike McCoy fired a final-round 2-under 70 to take home the George L. Coleman Amateur Invitational Saturday.

McCoy (69-75-70---214) rallied in the final round to upend Tim Jackson (75-68-75---218) and first-round leader John Engler (65-75-80---220).

In the senior division, Chip Lutz (80-74-68---222) knocked off Rick Woulfe (79-71-72-222) in an aggregate playoff. Lutz fired a 4-under 68 to force the playoff. Woulfe maintained his steady play over the weekend, finishing with a final-round 72.

Engler, the former PGA Tour player and Clemson star from Augusta, Georgia, fired an impressive 7-under 65 at Seminole Golf Club on Thursday to lead the Mid-Am division after one round.

He floundered a bit in Round 2, shooting a 75 but still owned a three-shot advantage heading into Saturday's final round.

Leading in the Senior Flight after Day 2 was Paul Simson (75-71-79---225), who roared back into contention Friday with a 71, leap-frogging Bill Zylstra (72-77-75---224), from Ocklawaha, FL, who shot even par 72 in Thursday's first round to take the initial lead. His 77 in the second round pushed him to second place ahead of Saturday's final round.

ABOUT THE Coleman Invitational

One of the very best amateur events all year long played on the last great private course designed by Donald Ross. The course, not long by today's standards, lies hard by the Atlantic Ocean. Oceanic winds and very fast greens give this course teeth. Ben Hogan once said 'If you can play Seminole, you can play any course in the world.'

The tournament is a 54-hole stroke play invitational that draws an elite field of mid- amateurs and seniors.
