Barber/Newsom win National Senior Junior

JUPITER, Fla. (Jan 12, 2011) – Allan Barber and Roger Newsom of Bluefield, W. Va., combined for a one-stroke victory Wednesday in the 21st annual National Senior-Junior Amateur Team Championship at The Dye Preserve.
Barber and Newsom edged Keith Decker of Martinsville, Va., and Christopher Reeves of Juno Beach, 198 to 199. Each team shot 65 in the scramble format the final round.
Decker won the title the last two years in partnership with Pat Tallent of Vienna, Va., but the team was broken up when Decker turned 50 the past year.
In the Legends division, the winners were the Virginia team of J.P. Leigh, Suffolk, and Charles Green, Tazewell, with 206.
There were 31 teams in the Champions division and 12 Legends teams.

wonderful course re-done by Pete Dye. One round
each of Best-Ball, Scramble, and
Pinehurst format.
