Cathrea Medalist at California Women's Amateur
CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2010) -- Defending champion Casie Cathrea, 14, of Livermore, Calif. shot even par 142 with rounds of 72, 70 to take medalist honors in the 44th annual California Women's Amateur Championship. Commenting on her accomplishment Cathrea said "It feels awesome."
The low round of the two day qualifier on the par 71, 6021 yard course at the Golf Club at Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley, California went to Jenni Jenq of Saratoga with a 68.
A play-off was necessary to field the last spot in the championship flight. Nicole Burtt of Cathredral City, Calif. needed only one hole to defeat Yoonhee Kim, 12, of San Ramon, Calif. as she made a birdie on the first play-off hole. Burtt will now face the medalist, Cathrea, in the first match tomorrow.

founded in 1967 and played at Pebble Beach Golf
Links until 1987 when the Championship was invited
to Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, where it was
played through 2019.
36-hole stroke play qualifying
round, 18 holes each day, to determine 32
players
for match play. Prizes will be awarded
to the Champion, Runner-up, Semifinalists,
Quarterfinalists
and the 36-hole Low Gross Medalist
from qualifying rounds.
