GIG HARBOR, WA. (Aug. 20, 2010) -- Woo-hyun Kim, an 18-year old from South Korea, won the biggest event of his life at the Scratch Players Championship yesterday at the Canterwood Golf & Country Club in Gig Harbor, Wash. Kim took control of the event from the outset with a 65 in the first round and followed it up with a 3-under par 69 in the second. Although he stumbled with a 75 on day 3, he was able to recover with a final round 70 and a four stroke victory over second place finisher and world #2 ranked player Romain Wattel from France (71-72-68-72--283).
Cheng-sung Pan of Taiwan placed third with scores of 70-69-75-70--284, and Chan Kim from Honolulu, HI took solo fourth with scores of 72-72-72-69--285.

The Scratch Players Championship (SPC) is
primarily an exempt player event for top
amateur golfers from the United States,
western Canada, Mexico and the Pacific Rim
although any exempt player worldwide is
welcome to enter. Non-exempt amateurs with
a USGA Handicap Index of 0.9 or less are
