Luke Potter leads Texas to second team title of season at John Hayt

Luke Potter and the Texas Longhorns completed the 2025 John Hayt Collegiate Invitational sweep at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Potter began the day three strokes behind 36-hole leader David Ford of North Carolina, but a 3-under 69 to finish 10-under with rounds of 71-66-69 saw him erase the deficit and win the individual title by three strokes over Ford.
Ford finished in solo second place at in second at 7-under with rounds of 69-65-75. Ford is currently ranked No. 9 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings.
South Carolina's Nathan Franks finished in solo third place at 6-under, while Christiaan Maas of Texas and Jonathan Griz of Alabama finished T4 at 5-under.
Potter jumpstarted his final round with an eagle on the par-five No. 8 and added a birdie on No. 11 to move to 3-under. His previous best collegiate finish was a tie for second in the stroke-play portion of the East Lake Cup during his freshman season at Arizona State.
This marks the second straight tournament that a Longhorn player has claimed the individual title when Tommy Morrison earned his first career collegiate win in the Amer Ari Invitational last month.
In the team competition, Texas finished at 18-under with rounds of 290-274-282. This was the Longhorns' second team title of the season. They previously won the team championship at the Southwestern Invitational.
The Longhorns entered the day in fourth place, ten strokes off the lead. They registered the low team score for the second straight round and were the only squad to shoot under par in the final round.
Duke finished in solo second place at 11-under, and second-round leader Alabama finished in solo third place at 6-under.
