After one round of the 2024 AmateurGolf.com Winter Invitational at Corica Park, the South Course, in Alameda, Calif.,
Adam Barkow of Oakland, Calif., and
Parker Mapes of Pleasanton, Calif., lead the field at 2-over.
After dealing with a rain delay and the golfers not getting onto the course until the afternoon, Barkow and Mapes both shot rounds of 2-over 74 to take the lead at the halfway point.
Barkow recorded two birdies and two bogeys, and Mapes recorded three birdies and five bogeys. Barkow is a graduate of Fresno State and made the round of 32 at the 2024 U.S. Mid-Amateur, while Mapes is a junior at Cal Poly University.
Aidan Lee of Pasadena, Calif., Nicola Kaminski of Los Gatos, Calif., and Kailer Stone of Alameda, Calif., are all T3 at 3-over. 19 golfers are within five shots of the lead with 18 holes remaining.
Last year, Parker's brother, Cooper, recorded a hole-in-one in the Winter Invitational.
2023 Winter Invitational Senior Division champion Craig Miyamoto of Sacramento, Calif., leads by two shots after a round of 5-over 77 in his title defense. Miyamoto recorded two birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey.
Chad Solter of Larkspur, Calif., is in solo second place at 7-over.
Barkow also leads the Mid-Amateur Division, and Kaminski leads the Women's Division by one shot of Emma Wang of Palo Alto, Calif.
