Jordan Burnand, a 23-year-old from Benoni, Gauteng, has added another impressive win to his growing resume with a five-stroke victory at the Ekurhuleni Open, held at ERPM Golf Club in Boksburg. Burnand shot 6-under for the tournament, with rounds of 68-67-76-71.
Heading into the final round, Burnand held a comfortable seven-shot lead, and though he didn’t need to go low on the last day, he stayed steady with a measured 71. That was more than enough to keep him ahead of the field and claim the title. Ranked 22nd on the
Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings, Burnand showed maturity beyond his years, maintaining his cool even with the pressure of leading from the front.
Astin Wade Arthur, the No.1 ranked golfer in South Africa made a charge with the day’s lowest round of 68, finishing at 1-under 287 for the tournament, but it wasn’t enough to catch Burnand, leaving Arthur five strokes back in second place.
Burnand, currently ranked 2nd in the GolfRSA rankings, has been in brilliant form throughout 2024. This win adds to a season that already includes victory at the South African Stroke Play Championship, runner-up finishes at the South African Amateur Championship and Scottish Men’s Open, and five other top-10 finishes.
