The LPGA is returning to New England this week, and the FM Championship will be at TPC Boston from August 39 to September 1. It already had two locals who were going to attract attention, and now it has another.

Megan Khang (Rockport, Mass.) and Alexa Pano (Westborough, Mass.) have another New England native joining them in the field at the FM Global Championship this week at TPC Boston. Carys Fennessy, a rising senior at Dover High School in New Hampshire, won the Monday Qualifier with a 1-under 71 to punch the ticket into the professional event.

Fennessy is a three-time NH High School state champion and also won the New England Women’s Amateur and the New England Junior Amateur this summer. Her most impressive and dominant wins came in the last two New Hampshire Amateurs. She won by 15 shots last year and defended her title with an 18-stroke win this summer.

Last week, Worcester CC hosted a pre-qualifier event for ten players who earned their spots for various performances. Fennessy survived a playoff with Williams College rising sophomore Emma Ambramson for the third and final spot in the qualifier.

In the summer of 2022, while attending the U.S Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Fennessy was hit in the head with a golf ball. The injury was serious enough that she couldn’t play golf for nearly the entire summer and had to stay away from any contact sports for almost a year.

Now, Fennessy will tee it up in the new championship at TPC Boston from August 29 to September 1.
