When Scott Gutschewski gets to the first tee on Thursday at The Club at Indian Creek in Omaha, Nebraska for the Pinnacle Bank Arena, he won't have to introduce himself to his playing partners.
Luke and Trevor Gutschewski each earned sponsors' exemptions into the event and will play alongside their father for the first two rounds.
The trio will tee off at 9:57 a.m. ET on hole No. 10.
Trevor is coming off an impressive win at the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Oakland Hills.
“I don't even know,” Gutschewski said of what it means to be a USGA champion to the USGA after the win. “Probably hasn't sunk in yet. I have to sit on it for a bit.”
Trevor’s older brother, Luke, currently plays at Iowa State and has had his own success in USGA events, sharing medalist honors at the 2022 U.S. Amateur at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J.
“I don't know what it is. USGA must not have brought the best out of me, but apparently they do out of my kids,” Scott Gutschewski told the USGA after the final match. The three-time winner on the Korn Ferry Tour didn’t play in any USGA events growing up and has just the 2009 U.S. Open (a missed cut) under his belt. “Yeah, they're cool and historic events. They're great tests. They test everything. They sometimes I think blur the line on what we as players think is fair. That's part of the test, right?”
