It wasn't easy, as Johnson had to go through William McDonald, the 2023 Oklahoma State Amateur champion, in the final match to secure the championship.
"It was good," Johnson told the Oklahoma Golf Association. "Before this tournament, I wasn't hitting it too good and didn't know what was going to happen, but me and my caddie just played with what we had, and luckily, we got the job done."
Johnson finished T8 at 5-under in the stroke play qualifying, while Dylan Teeter earned the medalist spot and No. 1 seed after a round of 10-under 62.
The future champion defeated Tyler Hunt 3&2 in the round of 32 and then defeated JR Hurley 5&4 in the round of 16. Johnson then took down the No. 1 seeded Teeter in the quarterfinals 2&1 and defeated C.J. Phillips easily in the semifinals, 7&5.
Then, in the final, he beat William McDonald, the 2023 Oklahoma State Amateur Champion, in 19 holes.
