Garrett Jones hangs on to win Wisconsin Amateur

After finishing T3 at the 2023 Wisconsin Amateur,
Garrett Jones won the 2024 Wisconsin Amateur Championship at The Legend at Merrill Hills in Waukesha, Wis.
Jones finished 71-71-69-73 to get to even par and win by two shots. He was the only golfer to finish at even par, and no golfers finished under par for the week.
Jones was standing on the No. 18 tee at 2-under but made a double bogey on the final hole to win by one shot.
He recorded the most birdies in the field at 16.
Joe DuChateau finished in solo second place at 1-over, and Ross Thomson finished in solo third place at 2-over. Drake Wilcox finished in solo fourth place at 4-over, and Ben Skogan and Bennett Swavely finished T5 at 5-over.
Jones is currently ranked No. 761 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com U.S. Rankings. He won the 2021 Wisconsin Match Play Classic and will play in the 2024 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship after earning medalist honors at qualifying.

Wisconsin State Amateur
This event has been conducted annually since 1901.
The format, originally match play, was changed to a
72-hole stroke-play event in 1971. The State
Amateur, contested over four consecutive days, is
annually conducted on one of Wisconsin’s finest
courses and continues to be recognized as the
premier amateur tournament held in Wisconsin. A
three-man team competition, the Yule Cup, where
players representing the same club compete for the
Cup, is also held. To be eligible, players must have a
WSGA Handicap Index of 9.4 or less.
