Tyler Sanford surges ahead in the second round to win the Southern Junior Amateur

Tyler Sanford of Montgomery, Tex., held on to win the 52nd Southern Junior Championship at Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla.
Sanford finished 5-under and carded consistent rounds of 70-70-71.
He recorded four birdies in the final round.
“It was a grind today,” Sanford told the Southern Golf Association. “This golf course is very hard and mentally draining. But it feels amazing to be the champion. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my chest. I really don’t even know how to explain it.”
Jaxon Bandelier of Austin, Tex., and Cole Stockard of Dalton, Ga., finished at 3-under and T2 for the tournament. Morgan Riley of Jamaica finished in solo fourth place at 2-under, and Alexander Weinberg of Boca Raton, Fla., finished in solo fifth place at 1-under.
Bailey Sutter of Cullman, Ala., finished in solo sixth place at even-par.
According to the Southern Golf Association, the field average score was 75.72, with 163 birdies and five eagles. Only three players broke par in the final round.
The winner of the Southern Junior Championship receives:
- A silver medal
- His name engraved on the Perry Adair Trophy
- A Calamity Jane putter
- Exemption into the 2025 Southern Amateur Championship
- Exemption into all future Southern Junior Championships in which he is eligible to compete
- Fully Exempt with AJGA thru 2025.

group. Entries are open to male, amateur golfers
who have a current USGA Handicap Index of

or less, and who are not members of a college
