Lompoc City: Tongun Lako wins by two shots

Tongun Lako shot rounds of 76-74 to win the Lompoc City Amateur Championship by two shots at La Purisima Golf Club.
Lako stood one behind Elias Moncrief after 18 holes and carded a brilliant 74 to keep off the challenge and emerge victorious at the tournament.
Brett Patton and Ethan Ashbrook shot matching totals of 152 to finish as joint runners-up in the tournament. Patton carded rounds of 79-73, while Ashbrook achieved the feat with back-to-back scores of 76.
Lako, a Math teacher at Chaffey Junior College, previously won the Nevada State Mid-Amateur Championship and the SCGA Match Play Championship in 2022.
Ryder Epson finished 4th with a score of 153, while Bobby Neary and opening round leader 13-year-old Elias Moncrief, the youngest competitor in the tournament shared fifth place with scores of 155.
In the Net division, Mark Pata shot two consecutive rounds of 70-70, securing a six-shot win over Bob Bolusan (73-73). Interestingly, Bolusan also finished as the runner-up in the Net division during the 2018 edition of the tournament.

Individual 36-hole gross and net stroke play
competition open to all amateur golfers. Limited to
the
first 90 entries. Net competitors must have a valid
USGA handicap. Entry fee includes green fees for
both
days, prize fund and Sunday barbecue.
