In the first-ever Georgia Cup of an amateur against a professional, the amateur secured the upper hand.

Christo Lamprecht defeated Nick Dunlap 1-up to win the 27th Georgia Cup match at The Golf Club Of Georgia, the Lakeside Course, in Alpharetta, Ga. Dunlap was the first-ever player to compete in the Georgia Cup after already turning pro.

Lamprecht made a 14-foot eagle putt on No. 18 to win over Dunlap in the tightly contested match.

The 6'8 23-year-old was the third South African to play in the match, joining Jovan Rebula in 2019 and last year's winner, Aldrich Potgieter.

South Africa is now 3-0 in the Georgia Cup.

Lamprecht is currently ranked No. 4 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings.

The Amateur champions now lead the U.S. Amateur champions 15-11 in the series. The 2020 match was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a postponement of The Masters until November.

The Georgia Cup is an 18-hole match play event played annually between the reigning United States and the British Amateur champions.
