Schenkel Invitational: Florida enters the five-time club

The Florida men’s golf team, the Gators, shot 27-under 837 with rounds of 277-277-283, securing the team championship at the Schenkel Invitational held at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
Gators won by four shots as the victory is also the fifth all-time at the Schenkel Invitational, tied for second most by a school in the event and one behind leaders Oklahoma State and Wake Forest.
The Gators shot a season-low of 27-under par, which is tied for 9th lowest all-time by par in program history, last set in the 2001 NCAA Regional.
This also marks the Gator's fifth win of the season, following their team titles at - Georgetown Intercollegiate, Pablo Creek Collegiate, Sea Best Invitational, and Gators Invitational.
Notre Dame shot rounds of 283-274-284, finishing as the runner-up at 23-under par, followed by Middle Tennessee St. with rounds of 277-281-285 for a third-place finish at 21-under.
In the individual competition, Nathan Franks of South Carolina shot 69-66-68 to win the title at a total score of 13-under 203.
Max Green, a junior at West Virginia, Wisconsin senior Daniel Aas, and Florida sophomore Parker Bell shot a matching total of 10-under par for a joint runner-up finish at the tournament. Green carded rounds of 71-68-67, Aas posted rounds of 66-70-70, and Bell finished with rounds of 67-67-72.
Franks currently ranks No. 161 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com US Rankings.
On the stats front, Florida ranked top on par 5s with a scoring average of 4.53 and also recorded the highest number of eagles, with four, in the tournament. Parker Bell of Florida stood second on the par 5s with a scoring average of 4.17 and shared the top spot with his teammates for most eagles, with two each coming from him, John DuBois, and Ian Gilligan.
