Cabo Collegiate: Arizona State leads Houston by one shot after round one

Arizona State leads the Cabo Collegiate at the Twin Dolphin Club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, after round one.
The Sun Devils shot a team score of 8-under 276 to lead Houston by one shot after the Cougars shot a round one score of 7-under 277.
Arkansas is in solo third place at 3-under, and two-time defending champions Vanderbilt is in solo fourth place at 3-over. California, Stanford, and Tennessee are all T5 at 4-over, and Texas Tech and Arizona are T8 at 6-over. Ole Miss is in solo tenth place at 8-over.
Jake Hall of Tennessee leads the individual competition after shooting a first-round 4-under 67. Hall was flawless, recording a bogey-free round and four birdies with 14 pars.
Hall made headlines last summer after he won the 2023 Tennessee State Amateur with a record-setting final round. Hall also won the 2023 All-American Intercollegiate, finished in solo fifth place at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate and T28 at the SEC Championships.

Michael Mjaaseth and Jose Luis Ballester of Arizona State, Santiago De La Fuente and Austyn Reily of Houston, Mateo Pulcini and Jacob Skov Olesen of Arkansas are all T2 and just one shot back of Hall.
John Daly Jr. of Arkansas, Michael Thorbjornsen of Stanford, William Moll of Vanderbilt, Wolfgang Glawe of Houston, and Frederik Kjettrup of Florida State are T8 at 2-under and two shots back of the lead.
25 golfers are within four shots of the lead.
No. 1 ranked amateur in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings, Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt is T34 after a round of 2-over 73.
