Rancho Margarita Amateur: Bradley Smolinski runs away from the field

Bradley Smolinski won the 2023 Rancho Santa Margarita Amateur at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., by five shots after recording rounds of 68-68.
Smolinski took a first-round lead by one shot after a round of 4-under 68 and followed that up with another 4-under 68 to close the door on the rest of the field.
The Oregon State commit from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., won the Southern Cal Toyota Tour Cup at Arroyo Trabuco, finished second at the Max Homa Invitational at Los Serranos, and tied for fourth at the PGA West AJGA.
Smolinski attends San Juan High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and participated in the individual CIF regionals in 2021.
Joshua Hu finished in solo second place at 3-under with rounds of 69-72, and Dan Sullivan finished in solo third place at 1-under with rounds of 71-72.
Tucker Sweeney and Ryan Calcagno finished T4 at even par, and Alex Resurreccion finished in solo sixth place at 1-over.

Gross-only tournament played the last weekend in February that has attracted the best in Southern California for many years. Max Homa, Cameron Tringale, Beau Hossler, and Stewart Hagestad have all competed. Play in threesomes to ensure a nice pace of play, and the golf course is immaculate.
