Brian Dwyer secures his second title on the Northern Texas PGA Players Tour
Bridlewood Golf Club
32-year-old Brian Dwyer from Southlake, Tex, shot 7-under par, following rounds of 67-70, to win the Northern Texas PGA Players Tour by a two-shot margin over the field at Bridlewood Golf Club in Flower Mound, Tex.
Toni Hakula from Finland, who now resides in Austin, Tex, carded rounds of 69-70 to register a runner-up finish at 5-under par in the tournament.
Just two weeks back, Dwyer registered a win at the Northern Texas PGA Players Tour event held at Grapevine, Tex.
Dwyer consistently competes on the All-Pro Tour, a men’s mini-tour primarily based in Texas. Last year, he participated in seven events, made the cut in four, and secured a 53rd-place finish in the season’s standings.
He also made a notable appearance on the PGA TOUR at the 3M Open in 2019, where he narrowly missed the cut by four strokes, posting rounds of 73-70 for a total score of 1-over par.
On the other hand, Hakula, a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, boasts an impressive resume, having participated in over 78 combined tournaments on the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA TOUR Canada, and PGA TOUR Latinoamérica. He has achieved success twice, on the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica, with his most recent victory coming at the Kia Open in Ecuador in May 2023.
The tournament featured 75 players, including 14 amateurs. Among them was Tony Romo, a former quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, who made an appearance but decided to withdraw from the competition after shooting a 74 in the first round, followed by a 40 halfway through the second round.
