Jacques Wilson, a Charleston Southern graduate, shot an even-par 144 to win the 28th Annual Tournament of Champions at TPC Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, SC.

Wilson began his campaign with a 76, trailing Danielle Ezelle by five strokes. On the other hand, Ezelle secured the lead with an opening round of 71. The following day, Wilson encountered an early setback with a bogey. However, undeterred by this, he persevered and managed to accumulate five birdies, concluding with a tournament low of 4-under 68. This impressive performance allowed him to emerge as the winner with a three-shot margin over William Ovenden of Mount Pleasant and Walt Todd Jr. of Greenville, SC.

Ovenden carded rounds of 73-74, and Todd added rounds of 75-72 to register a joint runner-up finish in the tournament. Opening round leader, Ezelle, added a second round of 84 to finish 11th at a total score of 11-over par.

Last year, Wilson won the Men’s Division at the 102nd Resorters Tournament at the Alexandria Golf Club in a playoff against Lukas Bigger.

In the Senior Champion Flight, Rich Weston of Pawleys Island shot 1-under par for a four-shot win over Yancey Johnson of Simpsonville and Dough Ramey of Greer. Johnson and Ramey both shot matching total scores of 3-over par.

In the Ladies Flight, Kerry Rutan, the 2022 SCGA Senior Women’s champion, carded rounds of 75-74 to register an easy win by seven-shot margin at 5-over 149.

Margaret Olson of Fort mill shot 12-over 156 for a runner-up finish in the section.
