Carolina Young Amateur: Jonathan Honeywell wins in a playoff

Jonathan Honeywell of Whispering Pines, N.C., and Sydney Roberts of Chesnee, S.C., clinched individual titles for men and women at the Carolinas Young Amateur played out at Pinewild Country Club - Magnolia in Pinehurst, NC.
Honeywell secured the title in a playoff against Ryan Jahr of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, and Sam Davidson of Asheboro, NC. Honeywell carded rounds of 72-74 to match Jahr and Davidson, both of whom posted identical rounds of 70-76, resulting in a tie for the lead after 36 holes at 2-over 146. Honeywell, ultimately emerging as the winner, made par on the first playoff hole.
Jahr and Davidson finished tied for second after the playoff, and James Rico of Cary, N.C., and Andrew Graham of Asheville, N.C., finished T4 at 3-over.
In the women's section, Sydney Roberts secured the title with a 1-over 145, posting rounds of 70-75 and winning by a five-stroke margin over Mia Gray of Conway, SC, and Ava Romfo of Charleston, SC. Gray, with rounds of 70-80, and Romfo, 75-75, concluded the tournament at 6-over 150, sharing the joint runners-up finish.

North or South Carolina, is a member in

standing of a club which is a member of

Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a

USGA handicap index at a CGA member
club.
The championship format is 36 holes of
stroke
play.
