Monterey Open: Mikey Burkland finishes as the low-amateur

Mikey Burkland of Alamo, Calif., finished as the low amateur at the 2023 Monterey Open at Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey, Calif.
Burkland shot 6-under and finished T11. He was 10 shots behind the winner, Charles Porter, who finished 16-under.
Burkland shot rounds of 72-70-68, consistently improving from round to round.
Burkland made 15 birdies, one double bogey, and seven bogeys on the week. It was a roller coaster of a final round for Burkland, who made eight birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey to shoot 4-under 68.
Three other amateurs made the cut, with Jerry Ledzinski finishing T22, John Fracisco finishing T24, and AJ Fitzgerald finishing in solo 37th place.
