Nick Dunlap had one of the more memorable summers any amateur golfer could ask for.
This fall at Alabama, the Sophomore has kept that momentum rolling.
After finishing as the medalist at the SEC Match Play, Dunlap shot a 12-under 60 in the second round of the Hamptons Intercollegiate at Maidstone Golf Club in East Hampton, N.Y.
The 60 matches the single-round NCAA record and sets the Alabama school record.
After shooting a solid first-round 3-under 69, Dunlap made 10 birdies and an eagle with no bogeys in his second round to sit at 15-under and take a two-shot lead into the final round.
He made birdies on six consecutive holes, Nos. 12-17. He had about an eight-foot putt on No. 18 for 59, but it lipped out.
This summer, Dunlap won the Northeast Amateur and the North and South Amateur. He then won the U.S. Amateur Championship at Cherry Hills Country Club and then represented the winning side of the United States at the Walker Cup.
