Brian Jones, of Chico, Calif., clinched his fourth Chico City Championship title by defeating Costa Tzikas, of Lincoln, Calif., with a commanding 4 & 3 victory.
The tournament was played out at par-71, 6126 yards Bidwell Park Golf Course in Chico, Calif., over two weekends from Sept. 9-17.
On his way to the finale, Brian beat Taylor Bromley by 3 & 2 in the Semi-Finals and Logan Gough 5 & 4 in the Quarter Finals.
Jones's journey back to a championship had been marked by near misses in recent years. In the previous edition of the championship, he narrowly missed the title, succumbing to Nathan Jetton of Diamond Springs, Calif., in the Finals, securing the runner-up position in the tournament.
Similarly, in 2020, Brian faced a hard-fought loss against Brett Viboch of Sacramento in the finals, and in 2019, he finished as the runner-up after a closely contested match against Darren Fegley.
Jones had previously clinched the Chico City Championship title in 1999, 2002, and 2017.
