Inland Empire Amateur: Kent Karlstrom wins by four shots
Kent Karlstrom of Rancho Mirage, Calif., won the 2023 Inland Empire Amateur Championship at Goose Creek Golf Club in Mira Loma, Calif., by four shots.
Karlstrom shot rounds of 70-66-68 to win the Championship.
Three golfers finished four shots back of Karlstrom. Brannon Fahrny of Anaheim, Calif., Kamaljit Singh of Riverside, Calif., and Scotland Schmidt of San Diego, Calif., all finished T2 at 7-under.
Nixon Lauritzen of Canyon Lake, Calif., finished in solo fifth place at 5-under.
Karlstrom dominated the non-par-4's, shooting 5-under on the par-3s and 5-under on the par-5s.
Karlstrom also made four birdies on his back nine in the final round to secure the win.
Karlstrom shot an impressive 6-under 66 in the second round to put him in a prime position in the final round.
Karlstrom made 15 birdies, two eagles, six bogeys, and a double bogey during his tournament.

three day event played at three courses in an
area
where Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernadino
and
Orange Counties all come together. Format is 54
holes of stroke play with the top 40% advancing to
the final round. Played each year over Labor Day
weekend.
