Carolinas Open: Amateur Noah Connor wins, as ams take four of the top five positions

Despite perfect weather for the first two days, the final day of the 99th Carolinas Open brought some heavy clouds and brewing storms.
As soon as the players were teed off, except for the leaders, the horns blew, and play was suspended. A three-hour weather delay followed, and players sat anticipating the round still ahead.
There was no telling what would happen today once the players were back out. Greens had slowed, puddles had formed and conditions became trickier. All eyes were on Noah Connor (a) as he steadily played each hole, clearly staying calm and collected despite the gallery.
Quite the battle formed as the leaders tussled to the top, with Caden Baker (a) and Harrison Wierse (a) carding rounds of 68 (-4) and 69 (-3) that were just enough to put the pressure on Connor.
Connor went into the last two holes at +1, needing to birdie at least one of the last two to take home the win.
Thriving under pressure, Connor was comfortable going into 18 after making a two on 17. Everyone held their breath as his heartwarming birdie putt dropped on the last hole, securing the 99th Carolina’s Open trophy.
PGA Professional, Greyson Arellano, PGA shot 9-under overall and was our low score for professionals in the Carolinas PGA Section. The historic Greensboro Country Club was a perfect host for the 99th playing of this championship.
