Jess Baker (BBC)
The Augusta National Women's Amateur has quickly reached the pinnacle of the amateur golf calendar. Jordan Perez joined the podcast before heading to the event to talk about what makes the ANWA so special. She highlights some storylines she's looking forward to seeing play out. She coins a new amateur golf "Grand Slam" and most importantly the topic of the pimento cheese sandwich is debated after Anna Davis said it was her least favorite food item at Augusta National.
Then,
Jess Baker, the 2022 Women's British Amateur champion joins us to talk about life in Newcastle, England. We dive into how she started playing golf, the story of opening the ANWA invite, and how she almost quit the game after a challenging two years at the University of Central Florida. Baker was very open about the struggles of moving to Florida at the tail end of the pandemic and trying to adapt to online classes and playing a completely different type of golf.
She has bounced back and is now rubbing elbows with the pros in major championships and she was also part of the 150th Open Championship celebration at St. Andrews, playing four holes with Collin Morikawa, Anna Nordquist, and Keita Nakajima.
