Jeffrey Guan made the most out of his start at TPS Sydney, where the 18-year-old Aussie finished fourth at 19-under, just six strokes back of winner David Micheluzzi.
Guan, who won the
Avondale Amateur in January, carded rounds of 66-65-65-69 at Bonnie Dune Golf Club to notch a top-five finish in the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia professional event.
Guan held the 54-hole lead with Daniel Gale entering Sunday's final round, only to see Micheluzzi claim the title after carding a 10-under 61 in the final round.
Guan, who is described as "a one-in-10-year type of talent,” by Gary Barter, who serves as the director of teaching at The Australian Golf Club, has won the last two
Australian Junior Amateur championships. Last September, Guan brought his talents to the United States and shot a final round 64 at TPC Sawgrass Players Stadium Course to claim the Junior Players Championship by four shots.
In his first start on the AJGA circuit last February, Guan ran away with the Boys' Division of the Adam Scott Junior Championship at River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard, Calif.
