The island of Maui has been very good to the Oklahoma Sooners over the years.

The eighth-ranked (Golfweek/Sagarin) Sooners won their third Ka’anapali Classic in Lahaina on Sunday in dominating fashion, posting a 41-under total of 811 to claim a 12-shot win over second-place Clemson (823; -29).

Liberty finished third at 826 (-26), followed by Colorado, Kansas, East Tennessee State and Louisiana, which tied for fifth at 22-under 830.

The Sooners took a six-shot lead over East Tennessee State into Sunday's final round and quickly separated themselves from the Buccaneers and the rest of the field, closing with a 19-under 811 for a 12-shot win to claim their third Ka’anapali Classic since 2015.

Oklahoma's Jase Summy, Jake Holbrook and Drew Goodman tied for fifth at 11-under 202 while Stephen Campbell Jr. fired a 4-under 67 (-4) in the final round to move into 10th place at 8-under.

Medalist Andrew Swanson
"When the conditions got tougher, our guys just got tougher, and I loved seeing that all week," Oklahoma head coach Ryan Hybl said. "This was a nice way for our guys to finish off the fall and we're pumped about getting into the offseason grind."

Clemson's Andrew Swanson fired a final-round 63 to claim medalist honors with a winning score of 18-under 195, which was good for a two-stroke win over North Florida's Nick Gabrelcik. Swanson's 18-under-par set a Clemson record.

The sophomore from Bluffton, SC was two shots behind Gabrelcik to start the day, but quickly turned the tide with five birdies over his first nine holes for an inward nine of 32. Swanson holed a wedge from 85-yards out on the par-4 12th to move to 7-under on the day and followed with back-to-back birdies on holes 14 and 15 to go to 9-under.

His only bogey of the day came on the par-3 17th.

“It was a great way to finish the fall,” said Swanson, whose 8-under 63 tied for the third-lowest score in Clemson history. “I did well in different phases of the game over the course of the tournament. Today, it was putting, I had just 22 putts over the 18 holes. Earlier in the week, it was driving and ball striking.”

Kansas junior William Duquette made his first collegiate hole-in-one on the 202-yard par-three 15th and recorded an eagle on the 485-yard par-five ninth. He finished the tournament tied for 13th at 7-under while the Jayhawks tied for fourth at 22-under.
