Amateur Golf Podcast: The Country Club's director of golf Brendan Walsh
Brendan Walsh: Head pro at The Country Club
Brendan Walsh has been the head pro at The Country Club for the last 25 years. He came to Brookline in 1998 from Patterson Club in Fairfield, CT where he served as the head pro for seven years. Brendan has been described as generous and outgoing. It’s hard to disagree. There are myriad pros throughout the country that have come through The Country Club under Walsh’s mentorship.
He was kind enough to let me visit with him in person in March at The Country Club where we discussed what life is like for a head pro at a course hosting a U.S. Open, how he’s using his 1999 Ryder Cup experience to help him this time around, the deep tradition of amateur golf at The Country Club, the brand new routing for this particular U.S. Open and how it connects to the past.
