The Seton Hall Pirates came, saw and conquered a talented field at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate which wrapped up Monday at the Ralston Creek Course in Charleston, SC.
Seton Hall's 6-under par score of 858 gained Clay White's team their first tournament title since the 2017 Princeton Invitational and it came against a field that included three teams ranked in the top-50 nationally by Golfweek/Sagarin including No. 21 Virginia, No. 48 Florida State and No. 50 South Carolina.
The Pirates 6-under total of 858 earned Seton Hall a four-stroke victory over South Carolina while the College of Charleston (864), Florida State (864) and Virginia (870) rounded out the top-five.
Seton Hall's
Wenliang Xie finished in a four-way tie for second place behind College of Charleston freshman
Nevill Ruiter, who won the event with a 4-under score of 212. The junior from Zhaoqing, China had had four birdies and 11 pars on Monday en route to his third consecutive 1-under-par round of 71 to finish at 3-under 213 for the 54-hole event.
Andres Acevedo also finished in the top-10, tying for tenth at even-par 216.
Prior to its win at the Daniel Intercollegiate, Seton Hall had second-place showings at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial and Hartford Hawks Invitational in September to go along with an eighth-place showing at Georgetown Intercollegiate last month. The Pirates finished third in last year's BIG EAST Championships at Streamsong Resort.
