Foster holds on to win Geranium Senior despite Cannady charge

Even with the player behind him making a run, John Foster did just enough in the final round of Geranium Senior Invitational to hold on for a one-shot win. Foster, a Woodstock, Ga., native, had a final-round 69 to finish the event at Eagles Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Ga., at 2 under. He was one shot ahead of three players at 1 under.
Among those chasers, Steve Cannady presented the most urgent threat. Cannady ended the tournament with a round of 6-under 66. It was the lowest round of the day – and the tournament.
Still, Foster prevailed. It was a nice bit of redemption after finishing T-5 at this event a year ago.
Along with Cannady, Chris Hall and Steve Hall also tied for second at 1 under. Two more top Georgia seniors, Allen Peake and Rusty Strawn, tied for fifth at even par.
In the super senior division, winner Robert Parmar also eeked out a close one. Rounds of 72-74-75 left him at 5 over, and one shot ahead of runners-up John Armstrong and James Castagna.
Frank Perry won the legends division at 5 under and Don Wood was the super legends champion at 3 over.
