Pat O’Donnell defeated Steven Robinson 2&1 Friday morning to win the 36th Oregon Senior Amateur Championship played June 25-28 at Rock Creek Country Club in Portland.
The win was O’Donnell’s sixth all time, the most for any male player in the history of the event. O’Donnell previously captured titles in 2008 and 2010, before winning three in a row from 2014-16.
The match was evenly played with each competitor holding a lead for six of the 17 holes.
O’Donnell took the early lead on the opening hole when Robinson faltered with bogey. A birdie on No. 3 by Robinson squared the match, which held up until he birdied the par 3 seventh hole to go 1 up.
Robinson extended the lead to 2 up after O’Donnell took bogey on No. 10, but the six-time champion rallied to win the next hole before grabbing holes No. 13 and 14 to regain the lead.
A birdie on the 17th hole, a par 5 playing 507 yards, sealed the win for O’Donnell.
Denny Taylor defeated Mickey Morey (6&5) to win the Flight I bracket, while Eric Harvey defeated Rob Miller in 19 holes for the Flight II title.
