It’s that time of year for Masters hype, but unlike in years past, that hype starts with a different event. As the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur inches closer, excitement is starting to build.
Two women in the 72-player field recently showed off their putting skills in a low-key, carpet putting contest against Steph Curry, a two-time NBA MVP who plays for the Golden State Warriors.
Stanford junior Andrea Lee along with Lucy Li, 16, took a shot at the indoor putting challenge before Curry stepped up to the plate. He was the only one of the three to make the putt, shouting as it went in, “I’m going to Augusta!”
The players also got to chat with Curry at a Warriors shoot-around.
The Augusta National Women’s Amateur kicks off April 3-6, with the first two rounds being played at Champions Retreat before the top 30 players do battle on Augusta National for the final round.
