Add another in-state title for Arizona golf star Adam Walicki. After a 2018 that included victories at the San Diego City Amateur and Arizona Players Cup, Walicki opened 2019 with a one-shot victory at the San Tan Amateur. A final-round 65 at Alta Mesa Country Club in Mesa, Ariz., helped him get it done.
Walicki, from Phoenix, Ariz., didn’t have a single bogey in the second round. He opened with three birdies in his first four holes. He needed that round to overtake Nick Hedman, who had back-to-back 69s for a 6-under 138 total that left him one shot behind Walicki.
The leaderboard dropped off a bit after that, which Jimin Yoo coming in third at 3 under. Yoo had rounds of 73-68.
Ted Neville and Mike Wagner tied for fourth at 2 under.
