Barry wins senior title at SCGA Tournament of Club Champs

VALENCIA, Calif. (Nov. 26, 2018) – Bill Barry prevailed Monday in the senior division of the one-day SCGA Tournament of Club Champions, posting a 1-under 71 to clip three players by a shot.
Barry started on No. 2 at Red Hill Country Club and birdied his last hole – No. 1 – to get the title. Behind Barry, Bill Borden, Les Farmer and Mark Nikeas all finished at even par.
There were two past champions in the field, and one of them was part of a two-man tie for fifth. That was Craig Calkins, the 2015 winner. He finished with 1-over 73.
Craig Steinberg, who won in 2017 and 2013, was part of a four-way tie for 13th at 4-over 76.

SCGA Senior Tournament of Club Champions
Senior men’s club champions, age 55 and over, are
invited to play in this 18-hole event. The senior club
champion must have a Handicap Index of 5.4 or
below as of the date of registration. They must be an
amateur member in good standing with the SCGA
and a member on the club’s active SCGA roster at
the time they won the championship. This Division
will compete without handicaps. Senior men’s club
champions with a Handicap Index of 5.5 and above
will play in the net divisions. Senior men’s club
champions that have not reached their 55th birthday
by the date of the championship are not eligible for
this Division.
