WICKENBURG, Ariz. (Nov. 11, 2018) – Chalk up another title for
Adam Walicki. The Phoenix, Ariz., resident came out on top at the Arizona Players Cup. Walicki opened with 5-under 66 at Wickenburg Ranch Golf Club and never looked back.
Walicki had a three-shot lead after the first round, and even though he followed with a 3-over 74 on Sunday, he still won by three shots. T.J. Nolan was runner-up at 1 over. Caden Christopherson finished third another three shots back. Sunday was a much more colorful day for Walicki, as he took a triple-bogey 8 on the par-5 ninth. He rebounded by playing the back nine in even par.
Earlier this summer, Walicki won the San Diego City Amateur. He also qualified for this year’s U.S. Mid-Am and most recently, was T-27 at the Stocker Cup.
David Honerkamp won the senior division title at 2-over 144. Honerkamp had back-to-back rounds of 72 to finish one shot ahead of Jeff Benton.
Don Reycroft won the super senior division at 3-over 145 while Rusty Brown and Jeff New tied for second at 4 over.
Anthony Petronis and Tom Preston both were 14 over – with identical rounds of 75-81 – to top the legends division.
