70th Hudson Cup Matches: Pros, Amateurs Battle to a Draw

MEDINA, Wash. (October 19, 2018) - The 70th Hudson Cup Matches and 27th Senior Hudson Cup Matches finished in a TIE for all matches this afternoon at Overlake Golf & Country Club.
The Pacific Northwest PGA (PNWPGA) professionals retained the cup for the 70th Hudson Cup Matches as they won last year, with the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) senior amateurs retaining the cup for the 27th Senior Hudson Cup Matches.
The Charles Congdon Award went to Nick Mandell (voted on by the professional team) and the Larry Lamberger Award was presented to Darren Black (voted on by the amateur team). In the Senior Matches, The Bill Eggers Award was presented to Erik Hanson (voted on by the senior professional team) while Bruce Stewart was bestowed the Bob McKendrick Award (voted on by the senior amateur team).
It was just the fourth tie in the 70-year history of the Hudson Cup, but the third deadlock in the last 12 years.

Hudson Cup Matches
The Hudson Cup Matches and Senior
Hudson Cup Matches are conducted by
the Pacific Northwest Section of the PGA of
America in cooperation with the Oregon
and Washington State Golf Associations. The
matches
pit the top amateurs against the top professionals.
Each player plays three matches: A Foursome Match,
a Four-Ball Match and a Singles Match. At the
completion of the events, awards are presented to
the outstanding player on each team as decided by
votes of the team members. The awards honor
Chuck Congdon, Larry Lamberger, Bob McKendrick,
and Bill Eggers, four great players with outstanding
Hudson Cup records.
Fun fact: PGA Tour
player and Netflix superstar Joel Dahmen played in
the
Hudson Cup when he was just 20 years old.
