Gama wins Santa Barbara County title on home course

LOMPOC, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2018) –
Brandon Gama had a home course advantage this week at the Santa Barbara City Amateur and he put it to good use. After finishing runner-up at the event last year, Gama fired rounds of 71-74 at La Purisima Golf Course for a 145 total that gave him a two-shot victory.
Gama, a former member of the Chico State men’s golf team, has already won the Santa Barbara City. In fact, his 2008 victory in that event came after he posted a record 17-under par. This is also Gama’s second victory of the year. He won the SCGA Public Links in August.
After his first-round 71, Gama trailed Keith Moles by one shot. But a final-round 74 moved him to the top of the leaderboard as Moles came back with 81. Runner-up Ramie Sprinkling had the best score on Sunday – a 73 that left him two shots short of Gama.
Alton Anderson was third another shot back at 148 and Moles finished fourth at 151.
In the net division, Robert Campbell had rounds of 67-68 to finish first. His 135 total was four shots better than runner-up Steve Yavorsky.
