WASHINGTON, Mo. (Sept. 27, 2018) – While the top female mid-amateurs from around the country were playing at Norwood Hills Country Club this week in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur, Missouri’s top senior women were roughly 60 miles to the west battling for the Missouri Women’s Senior Amateur title. In the end, it went to Kathy Glennon.
Glennon separated herself at Franklin County Country Club from the start. She had a 3-over 74 in the first round to take a five-shot lead, but the real show happened on Thursday. A second-round 2-under 69 was 11 better than the next-best score.
Ultimately, Glennon, of Wildwood, Mo., finished at 2-over 143, and 18 shots ahead of runner-up Stephany Powell.
A year ago, Glennon was playing in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur. In fact, Glennon has appeared in a handful of Women’s Mid-Amateurs over the past 15 years. She made match play at Champions Golf Club in Houston last fall.
Runner-up Powell had rounds of 79-82 to finish at 19 over. Rita Gregory was third, two shots behind that.
