CONCORD, Calif. (Sept. 10, 2018) – Kyle Maspat won the Concord City Amateur on Sunday as the only player to post two rounds under par at Diablo Creek Golf Course. Maspat finished one shot ahead of runner-up Mason Troike.
Maspat opened with a 69 that left him two shots behind Troike and Tanner Hughes entering the final round. Neither had another low round in him, however, and Maspat cruised to the victory with a second-round 69.
Troike had 72 to finish in second, but Hughes posed a 75 to fall to fifth.
Maspat, of San Diego, is a sophomore at Cal after spending his freshman season at UC Santa Barbara. Maspat was the 2017 Western League Player of the Year as a senior at Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego, as well as the 2016 San Diego City Conference medalist during his junior campaign.
