Pfeiffer wins Missouri Mid-Am with playoff birdie

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Aug. 19, 2018) – Adam Pfeiffer won the Missouri Mid-Amateur title on Sunday when he birdied the first hole of a two-man playoff. It’s the first win in this event for Pfeiffer, of Quincy, Ill.
Pfieffer had back-to-back rounds of 2-under 70 at Jefferson City Country Club. In his second round, he had four birdies and two bogeys, one of which came at No. 17. It was enough to drop him back into a tie with Tyler Stalker at 4 under.
Stalker, of Springfield, Mo., tied for the best score of the second round with a 3-under 69. Stalker was also bidding to win his first Missouri Mid-Am title. Pfeiffer took it when he birdied the first playoff hole.
Pfeiffer recently won his seventh Quincy City Amateur title, making his something of a local golf legend in his hometown.
Patrick Britt of St. Louis was right on Pfeiffer and Stalker’s heels. He had rounds of 72-69 to reach 3 under and fall one shot short of the playoff despite a birdie on the 17th. Chris Martin of Rolla, Mo., was also at 3 under.
Chad Niezing of Manchester, Mo., rounded out the top 5.
