SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Aug. 8, 2018) – Sydney Colwill used a final-round 67 at Camelback Golf Club to run away with the Arizona Women’s Amateur on Wednesday. Colwill, who also won this event last year, finished 54 hole at 6 under, good for a four-shot victory.
Colwill, a Tucson native, will be a senior at the University of Memphis. Her final round included an eagle at the par-5 third, then four more birdies on the day. It was the best round of the tournament.
Besides Colwill, only two other players got below par for the tournament, including runner-up Erin Sargent, at 2 under, and Mikayla Fitzpatrick, at 1 under. Sargent is a sophomore at the University of Wyoming while Fitzpatrick is a junior at Xavier. All three of the top players on the leaderboard were under 70 in the final round.
Tui Selvaratnam, who won this tournament four consecutive times from 2000 to 2003, finished T-14 at 17 over.
