Scott Harvey among early George C. Thomas Inv. Leaders

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 21, 2018) - A trio of players turned in 1-under 69's to share the first round George C. Thomas Invitational lead. The lead group includes Todd Mitchell, Taylor Wood and two-time defending champion Scott Harvey.
Playing on the North Course of Los Angeles Country Club the lead group might have taken the early advantage on Thursday but the field is right behind them. Just one shot back in a tie for fourth are Arnold Cutrell and Bill Williamson following even-par 70's. In all 16 players will begin the second round within five of the lead.
In the Senior Division Gene Elliot fired a 4-under 66 turning in the best round of the day across either division. Elliot was one of just two players in the Senior Division under-par, three shots ahead of John McClure who carded a 1-under 69.
Tommy Brennan is third at even-par while John Pate and Marty West are 1-over sharing fourth. Mike McCoy along with two others are a stroke further back in sixth at 1-over.

Senior divisions is named for George C. Thomas, Jr.,
the legendary golf course architect who designed the
courses for Bel-Air Country Club, The Los Angeles
Country Club, Riviera Country Club and others in the
1920s. Thomas was a prominent rose breeder on
the
East Coast before gaining fame as a golf course
designer. Los Angeles Country Club was the host of
the 2017 Walker Cup.
